One Shot Video

I've made a one shot film before for my AS level coursework, I knew it was a completely different experince to making a standard film, as there were a lot of rules you were unable to break, if broken it would not count as a 'one shot film', therefore I went into this project quite confident, once we got into the pre-production stage, we found it pretty confusion to identify a suitable location .We then decided to use a studio room, which allowed us to use equipment which we never used before, I.e lighting, tracking.

This allowed us to enhance our knowledge on equipment which were never used before. To film this film we knew we had to be organised as a group, as it needed input from every team member to create the one shot film, at the start of the filming process none of us had a clue on what was going on to be honest. we decided to use bed sheets as a path way through Alex's life, the girls used there artistic skills to design the frames on the sheets which enabled us to proceed filming. The concept of this one shot video includes a guys daily routine which consisted of standing around smoking or argueing with his girlfriend , wanting to get away from this frustrated life style. He dreams up a club in his head and starts to enjoy the music, but is snapped back to reality when the dream ends. To conclude I am really happy with the one shot video we have produced, considering our lack of knowledge on how certain equipment work, we had some pretty interesting shots which were 'highlighted' through the fantastic use of lighting. However we did encountered a couple of problems like;

- Keeping the main character in shot whilst also being able to see the bed sheets

- The camera rails getting obstructed by parts of the set

- Lack of people to help with the set

But we overcome all these obstacles as we proceeded through the video, whilst filming for five hours straight. After completing the one shot film, we had to edit the film, which at first seemed difficult but myself and Tom managed to construct the editing process to the best of our ability's.

Design process

I attempted to combine my ancillary texts with my main product in such way that i could distinguished as being related to the same thing. This can be indicated by me by showing similar activities which are occurring in the trailer, poster and website. Soaps like Eastenders also take a similar approach, by linking there trailer, posters and website to a specific focus point, i.e. the "Queen Vic".

Web page:

My web page is connected to our trailer as it includes images of characters and there narratives which are indicated in the trailer. Furthermore the similarities with the trailer are major with the website indicating main focus points like the warehouse, i also think that the strongest point of our website is the lighting as it has similar factors to our trailer, outlining the important areas. I really don't think we could of done anything else to conduct a even more professional web page, as it would of been over the top, and our main focus point would not be established properly .This would be conventional amongst many soap operas and would have further connected my main product with my ancillary texts.

Trailer:

I personally think the main strength of us combining our main product and ancillary texts are indicated through the images which are being extracted from the trailer and used to make either a poster idea, or website feature. This is indicated through the close up of of the Boss smoking, which symbolises a sense of stress. This image was used in the trailer , which allowed me to conduct the idea of creating my own poster. Furthermore, i think our the font which we used in our trailer should of been used in our posters and website to indicate a more realitic scene. If I was to ever produce another trailer i would diffenetly change the pace of each scene, which i think confuses the audience at times. Also the title sequence at the start of the trailer is not established to the audience clearly, so i would maybe centralise it and consider enlarging the size.

Poster:

My poster includes features from my website and trailer,the money in the background of this poster almost establishes a hypnotic reflection on the current economicdownfall, with the money flashing past our eyes in a slight blur. Allowing us to link all three products togeather.

Conclusion

Overall i think my main product and ancillary text work make a complete set as they all include similarities of each other.
